Bishop of Mweka stays with the Josephites in Geraardsbergen, Belgium.

Mgr. Gérard Mulumba, Bishop of Mweka spent 24 hours staying with the Josephite Community at the Inter-regional House at the Old Mountain in Geraardsbergen (Grammont), Belgium. The Diocese of Mweka is in the West Kasai Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Mgr. Gérard Mulumba Kalemba was Rector at the Seminary of the Diocese of Mbuji Mayi when he was nominated as Bishop of Mweka on 14 April 1989. He was ordained Bishop on 9 July 1989. The Josephites run schools and parishes in the diocese of Mweka. The first Bishop of Mweka, Mgr. Marcel Van Rengen, was a Josephite.

Fr Jacob Beya, a Congolese Josephite and former Regional (Provincial) Superior of the Josephites in Africa and now Vicar General of the Congregation, welcomed the Bishop in his role as rector of the Community. During his stay, the bishop also met up with Fr Cyril and Fr Willibrord, two former Belgian missionaries in the DR Congo, as well as the three Congolese Josephites; François Mbiyangandu, former Regional (Provincial) Superior of Africa who is now in charge of the Pilgrimage Chapel; Fr Martin Tshindaye who is studying for his MA (Licence) at Louvain-la-Neuve and Br Willy Mikobi who is currently at KUL in Leuven studying for his BA in Theology.

On the Saturday morning, the Bishop was the principal concelebrant at the Community Mass. After breakfast the Bishop was taken up to the newly restored Pilgrimage Chapel, looked after by Josephites, at the top of the Oudenberg.
